Coil’d Up Care Guide

Coil’d Up is built to hold a defined, springy coil pattern that mimics natural 4A texture. That definition is the whole point of the texture, so the care routine is designed around protecting the coil rather than fighting it.

Washing

Wash every 1 to 2 weeks using a sulfate-free shampoo, diluted if possible, and applied in sections. Coily hair loses moisture fast, so follow with a rich, slip-heavy conditioner and detangle while it’s still on the hair, working from ends to roots with a wide-tooth comb or your fingers. Rinse with cool to lukewarm water to help the cuticle lie flat and lock in shine.

Styling and maintenance

Coil’d Up responds best to the LOC or LCO method (leave-in, oil, cream or leave-in, cream, oil) applied on damp hair to lock in moisture before it dries. Twist or finger-coil sections while wet to reinforce the coil pattern, and avoid brushing dry, since that breaks up definition and causes frizz. A silk or satin bonnet at night preserves both the coils and the moisture you’ve worked in. Refresh between washes with a light water and leave-in spray rather than reapplying heavy product, which builds up quickly on this texture.

What to avoid
Skip daily brushing, heavy oils applied at the root (they can weigh down the curl and clog the scalp), and high heat, which will permanently loosen the coil pattern.
